Big Five Shipping is a shipper's agent and consolidator: we receive, pack, consolidate and coordinate your cargo, and we book ocean and air carriage through FMC-licensed ocean transportation intermediaries and IATA cargo agents, selected per shipment type and route. The licensed carrier or intermediary for your shipment appears on your bill of lading or air waybill, and we will provide our carriage partner's name and license number for your shipment on request.
Clearance at the port of Mombasa and JKIA is performed by a KRA-licensed customs clearing agent working with our Kenya team. Import duties, taxes and government levies are assessed by Kenyan authorities and billed separately from freight — we provide estimates in advance wherever possible and itemize all charges before delivery.
As a United States shipper, msg Freight Systems LLC (trading as Big Five Shipping) complies with U.S. export control and sanctions law, including the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R.), in all shipments we handle.
Some of the packages we receive are purchases made at US online stores by people in Kenya. At any volume, bad actors occasionally attempt to abuse forwarding services for fraud — and we take that seriously. Neither Big Five Shipping nor its personnel participate in fraudulent activity, and we cooperate with US and Kenyan authorities and with the fraud-prevention teams of major US carriers and marketplaces.
If you are a merchant or individual who suspects a fraudulent delivery involving our address, contact us immediately — time matters.
We respond to fraud reports within one business day. If the package has not yet shipped, we will place it on hold — and in most cases hold delivery in Kenya as well — until the report is resolved. Where fraud is confirmed, we cancel the account and return merchandise to the merchant.
We may require copies of government-issued ID or payment verification from customers to protect merchants and cardholders. Customers are solely responsible for the accuracy of all declared information; civil or criminal penalties may be imposed under US law for false statements on export documentation.
Selling something to a buyer who wants it delivered to our warehouse? If you have doubts about a recipient's identity, we will verify them for you — free of charge.
We review the account, and where warranted request government-issued ID from the recipient to confirm identity. Verification typically takes up to 3 business days. While we review information carefully, verification is not a guarantee of any transaction, and Big Five Shipping is not liable for losses arising from transactions between third parties.
All shipments carry mandatory cargo protection: 2% of declared value for general goods and 5% for electronics, covering loss or damage up to the declared value during transit.
